I was recently lured to Launceston in Tasmania by the incredibly enthusiastic Louise Smith, owner of the inspiring educational toys and games store – Inquizitive. Louise is a big fan of Sorts and Sorts for Kids (so how could we resist!) and is passionate about inspiring young people to interact and communicate through game play. So, I flew down to the beautiful state of Tassie with a bag full of goodies from our game development archives – some of which had never been shown in public before.

Louise had organised a jam-packed two days of school visits and a games night at her store (and a visit to the city’s resident monkeys). I had the privilege of sharing stories of our game development journeys and the insights and lessons we have learnt. While I was focusing upon board games, my hope was to inspire the people I met to recognise that it really is possible to make your own career path from your own creativity. I really enjoyed the visit and I came away invigorated from the experience. I would like to personally thank Louise and her staff at Inquizitive for their hospitality and efforts. I would also like to thank the students and pupils of Launceston Preparatory School, West Launceston Primary School, Summerdale Primary School and Launceston Church Grammar School for their time, curiosity and interest.
