Valuable Self-Management

The 10 self-management valueballs™ will compel you to scrutinise your daily personal and work behaviours, to make immediate improvements and to produce evidence of your actions and outcomes.

You will be challenged to show how you have added value through:

  • having clarity of purpose
  • decision making and breaking through procrastination
  • doing more of what is important to you personally and to your business
  • effective personal organisation
  • skill development.

What would you do if you opened this valueballs™ challenge?

"Over the next 5 work days, ask 2 team members and 2 customers (internal or external) about how they believe your performance could be improved.

Hold your tongue and listen! Choose at least one of the suggestions from the conversations and give it a try.

Write the action you are trying (and anything else you would like to add about the experience) to your space on the evidence chart."

Valuable Business Development

The 10 business development valueballs™ will compel you to carry out a variety of investigations and activities to help you assess how well your current business strategy is performing. You will use your findings to make immediate improvements to strategy execution.

You will be challenged to produce evidence of how you have added value through:

  • finding out what customers perceive as your value proposition
  • assessing competitors and building competitive advantage
  • ‘live testing’ some customer interactions
  • building awareness of potential business opportunities and resilience to potential threats
  • addressing internal business development obstacles.

What would you do if you opened this valueballs™ challenge?

"What do you believe is the real value we offer as an organisation? List at least 3 distinct points of value. Then, share your points with 2 colleagues and ask them for their ideas. Add some of their ideas to your list. Now, come up with 2 ways to build these points of value into your daily work – no matter what your position. Give them a try. Add your list and actions to your space on the evidence chart. You have 4 work days."

Valuable Conference Interactions

The 10 conference interaction valueballs™ will compel conference participants to truly engage in the conference content and challenge them to interact in unique dialogues with other participants. These valueballs™ push participants beyond their usual conference behaviours to provoke information sharing, critique and application of ideas and insights from the gathering – all within the time constraints of the event.

Participants are challenged to add value to the conference by:

  • creatively sharing the essence and insights of the conference
  • capturing and promoting ‘what if’ questions and fostering input from others
  • actively seeking new and different opinions from a range of other participants and making their findings known to all
  • generating surprising moments to highlight key issues
  • creating novel ways to record and ‘take-away’ expertise, insights, questions and discussion points.

What would you do if you opened one of these valueballs™ challenges at the start of your next conference?

Your challenge is to in some way capture the energy or the spirit of an important moment during the conference and to take it back to your workplace. You must take an opportunity during the second half of the conference to share what you have ‘captured’ and how you are taking it back."
